چکیده

A total of 57 colonies of Agrobacterium species was isolated from the root nodules of five different leguminous plant namely Pisum sativum, Sesbania rostrata, Vigna mungo, V. radita and V. ungiculata by using yeast extract mannitol agar (YEMA). All the isolated colonies were belonged to Agrobacterium species. The isolated bacteria were characterized and identified as Agrobacterium rhizogenes based on the morphological, biochemical, cultural and pathogenicity tests. Biochemical characteristics such as exopolysaccharide, glycogen, total protein, total free amino acids and total lipids were estimated from the agrobacterial isolates. The agrobacteria of different leguminous plants showed lot of variations in their biochemical constituents.

Characterization of Agrobacterium rhizogenes Isolated from the Nodules of Some Leguminous Plants

Agrobacterium strains were isolated from five different leguminous plants viz., Pisum sativum, Sesbania rostrata, Vigna mungo, V. radita and V. ungiculata. The isolated bacteria was characterized and identified as Agrobacterium rhizogenes based on their morphological, biochemical, cultural and pathogenicity tests. Antibiogram and protein profile of isolates were also studied by disc diffusion a...

Effect of Seasons, Gender and Agrobacterium rhizogenes Strains on Adventitious Root Induction of Male and Female Juniperus communis L.

Scrutinizing of different aspects in vegetative propagation of Iranian J. communis L. is of prime importance in order to prevent extinction of such valuable conifer. In this research, the effects of different seasons, gender, different chemical compounds (IBA, PBZ, putrescine and sodium nitroprusside) and three strains of Agrobacterium rhizogenes on ex-vitro rooting c...

Hairy Roots Formation in Four Solanaceae Species by Different Strains of Agrobacterium rhizogenes

Plants are the important sources of drugs. Secondary metabolites are responsible for therapeutic propertiesin plants. Three compounds including (-)-hyoscyamine, its racemate atropine, and scopolamine (hyoscine) are the most famous tropane alkaloids in the Solanaceae familly. Nowadays, attempts to developthese alkaloids in biotechnological procedures which are principally based on the hairy root...

Influence of different strains of Agrobacterium rhizogenes, culture medium, age and type of explant on hairy root induction in Echinacea angustifolia

Hairy roots culture is a potential system for secondary metabolite production in medicinal plants. In this research, hairy root induction in Echinacea angustifolia was established using Agrobacterium rhizogenes. The effects of dif-ferent A. rhizogenes strains (AR15834, A4, K599 and MSU440) in two solid growth regula-tor-free culture media, half strength MS salts with B5 vitamins and WPM, were e...

Essential Oils from Hairy Root Cultures and Field Cultivated Roots of Valerian (Valeriana sisymbriifolium)

Background: Plant cell cultivations are considered as an alternative to agricultural processes for producing valuable phytochemicals (secondary metabolites). The use of plant cell cultures has overcome several inconveniences for the production of secondary metabolites. Objective: The essential oils isolated from roots of 24-month-old field grown valerian (Valeriana sisymbriifolium) and hairy r...
